Unifi extension privacy policy

Effective October 16, 2026. Contact: carltoniking@icloud.com.

This policy covers Unifi — Coursework sync and the coursework it sends to the Unifi dashboard at https://nyunifi.vercel.app.

Information processed

When you pair the extension, it stores Unifi authentication tokens locally to connect to your workspace. Google sign-in and Supabase authentication process your account identity, such as your email and name.

When you authorize a course sync, Unifi reads supported academic pages and collects course names and identifiers, assignment titles and links, deadlines, submission status, available scores, and sync results. Brightspace syncing can also collect published announcements, discussions, quizzes, grades, and course text and links. This content can include names and communications posted by instructors or students. Access depends on the pages and permissions you authorize. Unifi does not collect your general browsing history.

Saved course URLs, preferences, and sync status are stored locally. Coursework and sync diagnostics are sent over HTTPS to your Unifi workspace, hosted using Vercel and Supabase. These service providers process data to operate the service. Website requests may also generate operational logs, including IP addresses and request metadata.

Optional local login vault

You may choose to save academic usernames and passwords in the extension. Vault contents are encrypted locally with AES-GCM using a key derived from your vault passphrase. The unlocked key is kept in extension session storage for up to eight hours and is cleared when Chrome quits. Your vault passphrase and academic passwords are not uploaded to Unifi's backend. When you request login filling, or separately enable automatic sign-in, saved credentials are entered only on the exact HTTPS origin saved for that login; the academic site receives them through its own login form. School MFA and other login checks still apply. Losing your passphrase can make saved credentials unrecoverable.

Use and sharing

Information is used to provide coursework organization, syncing, grade/status updates, assignment navigation, and support. Saved courses can be checked every three hours while Chrome runs and access remains available. Unifi does not sell personal information or use course data for advertising, creditworthiness, or lending decisions. Data is not transferred for purposes unrelated to these features. Course syncing uses packaged parsers and does not send coursework to an AI model. Separately initiated website features are outside this extension's syncing flow.

Unifi's use of information received through the extension follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Service providers receive information needed to operate the service; information may also be disclosed when legally required. Support messages are processed to respond to your request. Do not email passwords, access tokens, or private coursework unnecessarily.

Controls and retention

You can disable automatic checks, revoke site access in Chrome, disconnect the extension, remove saved vault entries, or uninstall it. Disconnecting locks the vault but preserves its encrypted contents. Uninstalling removes the extension's local storage; it does not delete coursework already saved to the dashboard. Cloud coursework remains until deleted from the service. Contact carltoniking@icloud.com to request access, correction, or deletion of your cloud information; ownership verification may be required. Provider backups and legally required records may remain for their applicable retention periods.

Updates to this policy will be published here with a revised effective date.
